The Iranian American Jewish Federation of Los Angeles (IAJF LA) was founded in 1981 in response to the mass migration of Jews fleeing post-revolutionary Iran. For over four decades, IAJF LA has served as the central institution supporting the Iranian Jewish community in Southern California—preserving heritage, offering emergency support, cultivating education, and promoting civic engagement rooted in Jewish values.
Today, IAJF LA is powered by multigenerational leadership and a network of dedicated community members who volunteer their time, resources, and expertise across a range of committees. These include our Emergency Fund, Health & Wellness, Youth Programs, Public Affairs, and Dispute Resolution. Each committee reflects our mission to care for the community both spiritually and practically.
Our facilities host life‑cycle events, cultural programs, lectures, Torah classes, and social gatherings that foster Jewish continuity. Through print media like Shofar Magazine, in-person outreach, and digital programming, we continue to build bridges across generations and geographies—from Los Angeles to New York to Israel.
What began as a refuge has become a thriving center for cultural resilience, social responsibility, and Jewish identity. IAJF LA is where tradition is honored, voices are heard, and futures are shaped.
Our mission is to strengthen, protect, and uplift the Iranian Jewish community of Los Angeles through service, education, and cultural preservation. IAJF LA is committed to:
